Compare
and contrast
1. Read the
story "Cloudy W/ A Chance of Meatballs" with your students.
2. Have your
students make observations about what they have heard or read.
3. Have a group
discussion on what parts might be in the movie -- what parts might
not. (remember some students have seen the trailer)
4. Watch the
trailer with your students --

5. Have a group
discussion on what similarities they saw and what they noticed that
was different.
6. Discuss why
these differences might have occured as well as why certain parts
were kept within the movie.
7. Show pictures
from the book and have your students observe the trailer again to
see which images appear in the trailer.
8. If possible,
see the movie, and expand the compare and contrast conversations
even more.
9. Create an
observation list of your class discussion and post it to the Participation
Form.
10. Email other
classrooms that participate and invite them to continue the conversation
via email, skype, or chat.
