Welcome
to the O.R.E.O. Project!
(Our Really
Exciting Online
Project)
This
year's project invited classrooms to have each student stack oreo®
cookies as high as he or she can and then averaged all their individual
results to achieve a final Class result.
IMPORTANT
INFORMATION
Students COUNTED the number of cookies used to
stack -- NOT measured the height of stack.
Each
participating class needed at least 1 bag of Nabisco's Oreo®
Chocolate and Creme Sandwich Cookies.
Students
were encouraged to speculate how many oreos® they thought they
would be able to stack and then compared their results.
Students
were NOT to use anything to stablize the cookie
and they could NOT adjust cookies as they stack.
(i.e....once they have placed the cookie and their hand has left
the cookie, they could NOT adjust that cookie again.)
Each
student hadTWO attempts to stack oreos® and
recorded the highest amount they were able to stack before tumbling.
Teachers explained to their students that this was a project with
schools all over the world and also explained what information this
project is attempting to collect. They discussed that at the end
of the project, all results would be averaged by GRADE LEVEL!
Once the entire class had stacked their oreos®, they averagee
all their results to ONE class amount and submited their results
via the online form.
Results
were tabulated, averaged, and posted in an excel graph as well as
a downloadable excel document. Results were posted by GRADE level!
Final
Results were posted on
October 17, 2007.
This project is now over
(please visit ProjectsByJen
for current project list)
This
project was open to
PreK through Sixth Grade Students.
This project is now complete!
Students
were also invited to participate in the
Oreo® SCULPTURE PROJECT.
Using ONLY Oreos® and the creme filling, students created unique
sculptures (such as trains, houses, etc).
