Measure By The Foot was a project
to help teach measurement in a fun way in your classroom.
MATERIALS
Each participating class needed 1 piece
of construction paper per student. They also needed a long straight
area, somewhere in their school, where they were able to lay out
the feet to get a final measurement!
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Students chose 1 of their feet
to trace and cut out.
2. Students measured the length of
their (bare) foot.
3. The entire class created a long line of feet (heel to toe)
and measured the total length of the class in feet.)
Teachers submitted the following data
to the project:
a. The total length of all the feet combined
(in feet and inches).
b. How many students (number of feet) were involved in this project.
Teachers were encouraged to use the
provided worksheets and weblinks to expand this project.
Dates to submit data were from
October 1 - November 15, 2005.
