EXPAND THE STORY
1. Read the story "Where the Wild Things Are" as
a class.
It is also available on YouTube by clicking HERE
and also HERE
(this edition is read by President Obama.) Or you can watch
it as a Claymation by clicking HERE.
2. As a group, create a listing of what Max did, who Max
met, emotions, activities, etc. Record these somewhere that
can be viewed and used by all students.
3. As a group, or individually, create an extension of the
story.
SIDENOTE: The book, "Where the wild things are"
is a total of 10 sentences. (Mr. Sendak uses "and"
quite a bit)
For this project, you are also limited to 10 sentences in
extending the story.
STORY IDEAS:
* Your story can be about Max's dinner.
* Your story can be about what happens to Max the next day.
* Your story can be about what Max tells his mother and father
about his day.
* Your story can be about what the wild things do when they
realize Max is gone.
(Perhaps the wild things come to visit)
* Your story can be anything you wish.....as long as it expands
the book "Where The Wild Things Are."
4. Once your story -- or stories -- are finished. You are
welcome to create a wiki, blog, or website to showcase your
stories and send Jennifer the link.......OR you can email
all your stories to Jennifer to put on the project page.
5. Make sure you only put your first name and school name
on your story.
6. If you wish to illustrate your pictures (Maurice Sendak
wrote and drew the pictures for Where The Wild Things Are)
you are welcome to do so as well.
7. You are invited to invite another classroom(s) to share
information with you via skype, a voice thread, a wiki, mail,
etc. (You can find another class at http://projectsbyjen.ning.com)
