Verbs

1. Read Where The Wild Things Are and create a list of all the verbs found in the story. (worksheet)

2. Replace all the verbs (or some of the verbs) with new verbs. Use this online thesaurus to help http://www.wordsmyth.net/ or http://www.wordcentral.com/

3. Read your story out loud to a friend. Double check that you used the correct verb tense. (Mr. Sendak uses past and present tense verbs)

4. Have each student create a page in the book -- with new verbs and illustrations. Take pictures of the new pages -- or scan the new pages -- and upload them to Voice Thread. Have your students narrate the new book(s) (Voice Thread Tutorial) If you don't wish to use Voice Thread -- check out smile box or mixbook.

5. When your book(s) are complete, send the link to Jennifer to add to this page.
